Mechanical behavior of tropical Glued Laminated Timber beams with fingers joints

This paper presents an experimental investigation on Glued Laminated Timber (GLT) beams made with two tropical woods species, for structural purposes. Two wood species different density and under-exploited were chosen. These are Dacryodes buettneri (Ozigo) Pterocarpus osun (Padouk), Ozigo was taken as a reference species. A Phenol Resorcinol Formaldehyde (PRF) adhesive resistant to harsh environments used bonding. The static bending tests conducted compound of three lamellas fingers joints. aims these determine the key mechanical parameters such Module Rupture (MOR) Elasticity (MOE). Influence finger’s joints strength GLT is also investigated in this work. results show that position lamella finger joint has impact loss specimens tested, but they have no influence their stiffness properties.
